Veteran’s Day never resonated with me until my brother Matt joined the Army in 2004. He was stationed in Italy, then served in Afghanistan, and he continues to serve state-side now. I’m so incredibly proud of him, and thankful that he survived active combat — and not only survived, but came home without any physical wounds.
On Veteran’s Day, consider taking a meal to a military family close by, or buying a meal for a soldier you see in the airport. It’s a great time to show appreciation and compassion to people who have been more brave than we could ever imagine.
